2R at Chancellor Primary College

Finished Teachers College!!!

AUS: Wed June 22, 4:00pm / T.O: Wed June 22, 2:00am

I'M FINISHED!!!
It feels strange. Good, but strange. Feeling a bit emotional right now as I just left my school for the last time and said goodbye to my students. It feels good, I feel accomplished (horray) but I'm also a little bit sad because this means that Australia is almost finished as well.
Tomorrow I pack - Friday is graduation/celebrations - Sat is Cairns - next Thurs I fly home. Unbelievable. I've got some awesome memories to bring back with me ... and some black forest tim tams :)
I'm running out of internet and likely won't buy anymore so if this is my last post .... I will see you soon!!!

Bad Start to the Week - Great End to the Day

Aus: Tues June 14, 5:40pm / T.O. Tues June 14, 3:40am.

I only have a second to write but it's been awhile so I'm taking a break from my planning to jot down a few things.
This week is already excellent because yesterday was a holiday for the Queens birthday and this coming Friday is a local holiday for the Nambour Show Day (though I'm not even sure what that is! A horse race, I think).
I've been sick again (ugh - annoying) so I was slow out of bed today and thus was late and ran out the door, forgetting my perfectly peanut buttered english muffin on the counter. Sadface. Then I missed the early bus. I was thinking it was going to be one of those days but it actually went quickly, my kids liked the lessons I planned for them and the icing on the cake was when my mentor told me to ditch the staff meeting tonight bc I wasn't feeling well - and I got to come home early. The cherry on top of the icing on the cake was when I got home my Birthday Surprise Package from Afton was waiting for me!!! Delicious (orange) powered packaged cheese, candy, bathroom stuff, stickers and other fun goodies. Thank you Afton - you're awesome!
Garth Brooks has been floating around in my head today, for some random reason, so now while I plan I'm listening to my country music playlist and Rascal Flatts is just making my night - I love them!
Anyway, back to my planning so I can get to bed nice and early - I'm So Tired!!! 5 days of prac left to go. Despite my complaining earlier - I've come to like the little buggers in my class. One of my adorable students wouldn't stop holding my hand today and when we say good afternoon at the end of the day they all chimed: Good Afternoon beautiful and wonderful Miss Paterson. Awww!
Only 17 sleeps left - see you all Sooooooooooon!!!
xoxo

p.s. HUGE Happy Birthday shout outs to BRETT, LUKE & DIANNE this week - love you guys!!!

Cairns Here I Come

AUS: Sat June 4, 3:20pm / T.O: Sat June 4, 1:20am

It's Official: I'm Going To The Great Barrier Reef! Sara and I were patient and kept looking for deals and we just booked our flights; we'll be up north for the 5 days after graduation and before I fly home for good. We're flying into Cairns and we're going to book a snorkeling day tour and maybe even bungy jump (if I can work up the nerve)!
So excited - what a way to end this year!!!
Things continue to be really hectic at prac - but good hectic! Only 11 days left in my classroom. I actually remembered to take my camera in this past week to get some shots of the room and the work I've been doing with the kids. Next week is my last full week in the classroom as the following week there are holidays on Mon and Fri and the following week I finish my last three days. My last day at the school is cross country day so it'll be a fun last day to have with the kids.
Can't believe how fast time has flown by this semester, it seems unreal!
Less than a month and I'll be home. Bittersweet. On the one hand there is SO much to look forward to as soon as I get back but at the same time it's hard to know that my time here is up. It's been such an experience.

Teach, Eat, Sleep, Teach. Repeat.

AUS: Mon May 23 9:00pm / T.O: Mon May 23 7:00am

Haven't really had a second to write - prac is hectic this semester, I'm lucky if I'm awake past 10pm during the week, and on weekends.
So prac is crazy and I have no social life. The only thing I've done recently is go to the beach with some of the other girls from my program to model and take pics of the sweaters we had made ...

Prac Week 1

AUS: Sat May 14th, 12:05pm / T.O: Fri May 13th, 10:05pm

First thing's first: We Got The Apartment!!! Darren moves in June 15th! I'll be home two weeks later *Happy Dance*!!!

Next: My poor excuse of an immune system has betrayed me ... the horrific cold I had 4-5 weeks ago seemed to have left me though the cough stayed and now it's back full force - the cough that is; phlemy and gross and I'm pretty sure I've been running a fever for the past three days. The flu is going around my school. Perfect! In the chance that I have an infection lingering in my chest I've made a dr. appointment for Monday afternoon and I have some medicine in the meantime to keep myself comfortable. *grumblegrumble* not happy about this; I've only got 1 day make-up for prac too so I have to be careful about if I use it now. We have to clock 32 days at prac and make up any holiday or sick days and there are two holidays in june that I already have to make up leaving me the two last days of the school term for sick days; but the Friday of that week is our Graduation which I'd really like to attend, not be finishing prac :( So I'm trying to push through the sickness and get to work each day.

Prac: ... to be honest I'm not loving it. At first I was very intimidated by my mentor but this past week has been a lot better with her and she gave me really excellent feedback for my lessons and we're getting along. I dont like Gr 2. There's just something about them that drives me crazy. They don't know anything; and I know that's why I'm there - to teach them - but it's so annoying. How many times do I have to tell them to use a capital when they start a sentence? Unlimited.
I came home with headache every day this week. They are cute kids; they're really good kids; I can't stand them. Now I feel like a bad person. 6/32 days done ... 26 more to go ...

Can't wait to be finished there and get travelling to the Great Barrier Reef before heading home - exciting things ahead!

The Home Stretch

AUS: Thurs May 5th, 11:25am / T.O: Wed May 4th, 9:25pm

Today Is Such An Awesome Day.
It's Thursday morning, I got up early to have a chat with Darren - the internet was terrible and it sounded like he was living in a tin can but I've come to accept how bad the connection can be. Sara is at prac and Leyla went to Uni for a bit presentation so I have the place to myself -- I'm a super nerd but I've indulged in my alone time....I've done laundry, and cleaned my room as well as dust and vacuum the common area. I've got my country music blasting, the doors are open with a nice breeze flowing through, I'm eating timtams for breakfast. Life is Good. I'm actually making french toast for breakfast, the timtam was just to tie me over.

I have only got one more essay to do this term - 2,000 words later and I'll be finished. I've spent the morning expertly procrastinating but that feeling is there, that feeling that you know you're at the end of the road and you feel light and happy.
I just took a bite of my french toast and I must say I'm impressed with myself, I've never actually made it before - Yum!
Yesterday I had a seriously nerve shaking mock interview with a school board for one of my classs; I aced it. Whew. Comments from my prof who was grading us: Cool & Calm. I Was Shaking The Whole Time - good to know I can fake composure when needed.

So one more essay to go; due tomorow by 5pm and then it's my Birthday Party!!!! Woooooot! I haven't been excited at all. Usually I have a countdown going on from Jan to my birthday but this year it just hasn't felt right - well the feeling has arrived - and we're gonna party like we're 22 b/c in all honesty that's the age most of my friends are! AAaaaannnnd best of all: my roomie Sara is making me a Chocolate Cheesecake - just like my momma usually does!

In other Amazing Happy Exciting news ----- I didn't want to say anything until it was finalized, worried to jinx it but I've decided the more positivity around it the more it will happen ---- Darren and I found an apartment!!!! And by Darren and I, I mean he found an apartment, did all the nitty gritty work and I just sat here looking at pictures asking if we can paint and put holes in the walls. EXCITED!!!!! He's taking the application in at the end of this week and I want everyone to keep your fingers crossed for us pleeeeeeease! It's bigger than we need/expected but it has everything we were looking for. If all goes according to plan he'll move mid-June which means he'll be doing all of the heavy lifting as well b/c I don't get home for another two weeks after. Best/Easiest move I've ever been a part of! It's at Martingrove & Steeles just south of the 407. So like I said earlier please please please but some good vibes out there for us.

Happy Mothers Day This Weekend to All the Amazing Mommy's out there, esp. Mine!!! I love you and I miss you and I'm so proud of you - Thank you for everything <3

Have an Amazing rest of the week everyone!!!!!!!!!!!
xoxo
